One of the most exciting Hobart events is the Kunanyi Mountain Run, taking place in March. The 2027 dates will be announced in May!
Even if you’re not a runner, it’s a fantastic event to experience. The race turns kunanyi / Mount Wellington into a lively atmosphere filled with athletes, spectators, and supporters.
Head up to The Springs or Fern Tree to watch runners tackle the trails while enjoying coffee, food stalls, and local music. It’s a great way to spend some time on the mountain while soaking up incredible views over Hobart.
City of Hobart Floral Shows
Hobart Town Hall - 5 minute flat walk
For something a little gentler, the City of Hobart Floral Shows celebrates the beauty of seasonal gardening.
These exhibitions showcase prize-winning dahlias, camellias, bonsai trees, and homegrown vegetables, grown by passionate local gardeners. They’re a lovely way to spend an hour wandering through colourful displays and appreciating the incredible variety of plants grown in southern Tasmania.
Events are often hosted at the Hobart Town Hall or the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, both located within walking distance of The Old Woolstore.
Farm Gate Market
Bathurst Street, Hobart - 10 minute walk
Held every Sunday morning in the middle of the city, a 10 minute walk from The Old Woolstore, this lively street market is filled with local farmers, bakers, and food producers selling everything from fresh berries and artisan bread to handmade cheeses and pastries. Learn more here:

Running on Friday evenings, alternating between Brooke Street Pier and Long Beach, the Hobart Twilight Market is a great place to grab a yummy bite to eat and taste a range of local Tasmanian flavours. Forage Festival in May, is a weekend of food-based fun, centred around the idyllic town of Stanley and drawing inspiration from the wilds of The Tarkine.
